Ingolstadt has a healthy economic structure and can be proud to be the major city in Germany with the lowest unemployment rate. The strengths of the city are mainly influenced by the positive trend in the local automotive industry - above all, AUDI AG with about 40,000 employees and its suppliers with more than 10,000 jobs. The future looks bright for Ingolstadt – that’s the result of the nationwide study "Living in Germany", which forecasts "top prospects for the future" for Ingolstadt.
IFG - Pioneering spirit for over 40 years
An important contribution to this positive development has been provided by the city's Economic Development Corporation IFG Ingolstadt since its founding in 1969. It is Bavaria's oldest economic development agency. While the core objectives of securing commercial inventory and the promotion of corporate relocations through effective industrial space and land management remained unchanged since the very beginning, the activities of the IFG have expanded continuously over the past 45 years. Today, the range of services includes economic development as well as the promotion of employment, tourism and startup entrepreneurs, organized, among others, by the subsidiaries Ingolstadt Tourismus und Kongress GmbH, LGI GmbH and GVZ GmbH. The operation of the municipal park facilities as well as the promotion of scientific institutions completes the commitment of the IFG for the City of Ingolstadt.
